A STORY ABOUT SONGWRITING & THE HUMAN SPIRIT
Synopsis: The story of Denise Marsa’s development as a musician, artist, and individual is told in this original music project featuring anecdotes recounted against a background of her original compositions. Travel with Denise as she starts her career towards the end of the ’70s, struggling with her sexuality through the highly volatile and emotional ’80s while she claims her independence as an artist and continues on through the start of the tech-driven ’90s starting her own record label, into the 21st century. From her start in her West Village studio apartment dating from 1810 to London to West Hollywood and back to NYC where she developed the project, Denise shares her intimate, inspiring, and heartfelt stories.
The show premiered in London in 2018 at the Playground Theatre and was also part of the 2021 United Solo Festival in NYC. Denise also performed the show as a live-streaming event on New Year’s Eve 2020 from The Revelation Gallery and the year before she had a live performance from the gallery for close friends and associates.
The show is in development and as Denise’s career is always evolving, so is the script!
